Takeoff and Climb Performance Flashcards

1
Q

When selecting the EOL, what distances do you need to consider?

A

You need to take the lesser of the ASDA, STODA or TODA (provided they are 1.9% or less) and then subtract the line-up allowance of 45m.

Q

In Australia, a 3-engine turbojet aircraft must be capable of a NET takeoff gradient of…

A
  1. 8% (2.7% GROSS minus NET of 0.9%)

* Note that 1.9% is what the 727 is capable of so take anything of 1.9% or less

Q

Why do you have to complete a takeoff graph AND climb graph for each of the flap settings

A

Flap improves takeoff performance but degrades climb performance, so you need to find the BRW which is the best compromise

Q

How do you choose between a takeoff limited and climb limited BRW?

A

You choose the lesser of the two, and then out of the different takeoff and climb BRW limits, you choose the ‘biggest littlest’
