techniques Flashcards
(26 cards)
Pushing 推法
Steady, slow at even speed at one direction
Rubbing 擦法
Rubbing straight movement
Circular Robbing 摩法
rhythmic and circular rubbing
Wiping 抹法
Applying thumbs up-and-down or left-and-right rubbing action
(head, face and neck)
Rolling 滾法
Rolling by the dorsum aspect of metacarpal bones
A. 4 phalangeal joints
B. Last 2-3 joints
C. 5th joint
Yizhichan 一指禪
Force exertion with radial hump of thumb
Kneading 揉法
Kneading = toward body, should be done with less pressure
Plucking 彈撥法
Pluck tendon as if playing a string. First with light force then heavy, and at steady speed.
Palm-twisting 搓法
Holding a certain part of body with both palms, exerting opposite force with rapid twisting but slow-moving action. (竹蜻蜓)
Digital-pressing 點法
Bend index/middle finger, exert force on the treated point with the phalangeal joint. keep pressing for 10s then release.
Inserting 插法
Extend 5 fingers and keep them straight, the finer tips are pressing points for inserting into muscles or the medial border of the scapula
Pressing 按法
Force exerted should be steady and increase from light to heavy. Avoid sudden violent force.
Squeezing 擠法
Applying opposite force with fingers/palms on muscle.
Patting 拍法(空掌擊)
Bend the joints or fingers and palm slightly and pat the affected area steadily and rhythmically.
Shaking 抖法
Hold the distal end of lower/upper limb with both hands and make constant up-and-down trembling movements in small attitude.
Grasping 拿法
Away from body. Use fingers to lift/pinch muscle rhythmically.
Percussions 擊法(合掌叩)
Hitting or beating the body surface with back of fist, palmar, the minor the the bar of the ulnar palm and fingertip driven by the wrist joint.
Thumb Pressing
Force exertion should be at the centre of the fingerprint of thumb not the joint.
Overlapping Thumb
Manipulation for spots where deep thumb pressure is required. Upper thumb should not press too hard overloading the bottom thumb.
Overlapping Palm
Larger area where deep pressure is required on muscle.
General Pressing
Gradually exert thumb pressure at each point for 3-5 seconds.
Gradual Pressing
Gradually increasing the force at a spot to depth 1 and pressure remained for 3 sec, then depth 2 at deeper pressure which is kept for another 3 sec. Whole process about 5-7 second. (For patient who required time to get accustomed to the increase in pressure)
Continuous Pressing
Pressure is exerted for 5-10 second. (Majorly use palm)
Focus Pressing
Also continuous pressing that exert pressure at a spot with thumb for 5-10 second and pressure gradually reduced.
