15
Q

Cell cycle of mitosis

A

The first stage of the cell cycle is interface then prophase - where the nuclear membrane breaks down also copies each chromosome . After that we have metaphase the Chrom line up across center of the cell . Then we have anaphase- one set of chromosome which means is pulled to each end of the cell. Then we have telophase where the nucleus is divided. Finally we have cytokenises - the cytoplasm in cell membrane divide to form two genetically identical cells.

16
Q

Health definition

A

Health is a persons physical, mental and social well being with absense of disease

17
Q

Why do we need good health

A

To grow and reach their full potential
Play a full and active part in society

18
Q

Good health is maintained by

A

Free from disease
Happy positive outlook

19
Q

Disease definition

A

Disease is a disorder malfunction of the mind/ body which leads to poor health

20
Q

Disease characteristics

A

Characterised by single and multi factor that are physical, mental or both

21
Q

Communicable disease

A

Caused by bacteria, virus, protis and fungi

22
Q

What does cells exchange with their surroundings and how

A

Oxygen, glucose, and after and carbon dioxide

Diffusion, osmosis and active transport

23
Q

Diffusion definition

A

Diffusion is the movement of molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of lower concentration

24
Q

Are cell membranes solid?

A

No and they have a lot of pores and gaps

25
Does diffusion need energy?
No! It is a passive process
26
What often occurs across cell membranes in biological systems?
Diffusion
27
What does the rate of diffusion depend on
How steep the concentration gradient is The higher the temperature the more kinetic energy so faster they move Total surface area of the cell membrane that the particles have to diffuse
28
What does the rate of diffusion depend on
How steep the concentration gradient is The higher the temperature the more kinetic energy so faster they move
29
Osmosis definition
The diffusion of water from a dilute to more concentrated solution across a partially permeable membrane
30
Stem cells
They are unsoecialised and undifferential Can relocate themselves and divide over and over again to form clines
31
Embryonic cells
Adult stem cells are more limited and specialized than embryonic stem cells.
