the back Flashcards
layers of the back
epidermis and dermis make up skin
- superficial fascia: aka hypodermis or subcutaneous connective tissue- has fat adipose
- deep fascia: aka epimysium, dense connective tissue that covers each muscle
surface anatomy of the back
- external occipital protuberance
- trapezius muscle also attaches from spinous process of C7 to T12 and at external occipital protuberance
superficial fascia
- skin (epidermis and dermis) for thermoregulation and the hpodermis has a lot of fat asa protective layer
deep fascia
epimysium, wrap around muscle, have more organized, collagen fibers
Lattismus dorsi
origin: spinous processes of T7 to L5
- illiac crest of sacrum
- thracolumbar fascia
- inferior angle of scapula
- lower 3 of four ribs
Insertion: intertubercal of humerus
rhomboids major
origin: spinous processes of T2-T5 vertebra
Insertion: medial border of scapula
levator scapulae
origin: transverse processes of the c1- c4
insertion: medial border of the scapula
trapezius
origin: spinus processes of C7 to T11
Insertion: acromion and spine of scapula, lateral clavical
back muscles
most receive innervation from the brachial plexus.
trapezius muscle innervated by CN 11 spinal accessory nerve
triangle of auscultation
made by border of trapezius, rhomboid , latissimus dorsi, make respiratory sounds easy to see
intermediate muscles
[respiration]- serratus posterior superior
- serratus posterior inferior
deep muscles
[maintain posture] splenus capitis, spenus cervicis, semisplinallis capitis, erector spinae
innervation by dorsal posterior rami of spinal nerves
suboccipital region
occipital artery on the outside and greater occipital nerve on the inside
