Why is the left ventricular wall thicker than the right ventricular wall?

The left ventricle encounters a higher pressure system than the right ventricle does, therefore thicker walls are required to cope with increased tension. Furthermore, since the blood from the left ventricle is being pumped round the systemic circulatory system rather than just the pulmonary system, a larger muscle is required to pump this blood with more force

How does the autonomic nervous system affect the heart rate?

The sympathetic nervous system increases the rate of SAN depolarisation and the parasympathetic nervous system decreases the rate of SAN depolarisation
