Who was the first Tudor monarch?
Henry VII – he became king after winning the Battle of Bosworth in 1485.
Why did Henry VIII break away from the Catholic Church?
He wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon, which the Pope refused, so he created the Church of England.
What was the Act of Supremacy (1534)?
It made Henry VIII the head of the Church of England.
Name Henry VIII’s three children who became monarchs.
Edward VI, Mary I, and Elizabeth I.
What was the main religion under each of Henry VIII’s children?
Edward VI – Protestant
Mary I – Catholic
Elizabeth I – Protestant (with some compromises)
What was the Spanish Armada?
A large fleet sent by Spain to invade England in 1588, defeated by the English navy and bad weather.
Why is Elizabeth I considered a successful ruler?
She defeated the Armada, maintained peace, supported exploration, and strengthened England’s position in Europe.
What was life like for poor people in Tudor England?
Very hard – many were beggars or farmers, and punishments for crimes were harsh.
What was the difference between Catholic and Protestant churches in Tudor times?
Catholics had ornate churches and followed the Pope. Protestants preferred simple churches and did not follow the Pope.
