Explain two characteristics of God revealing in the creation accounts?
-One characteristic we learn about God from creation account is that he is Omnipotent. We can see that God is all powerful because in creation God made the universe out of nothing ( Creation Ex Nihilio )
- A second characteristic we learn about God from the creator account is that he is omnibenevolent. We can see that God is all loving because he made everything and saw that it was good.
Explain two reasons why catholics believe in the incarnation is important to catholics
-One reason that the incarnation is important to catholics is because God physically revealed himself in the person of a Jesus. This is important because it meant humanity could understand the nature of God and his was oh dealing with situations.
- Secondly another reason the incarnation is important is because it shows that God the father has deep love for humans. This is shown because God the Father was willing to let his only son die so that we might achieve salvation. This also created a link between God and humanity.
Explain two reasons why the paschal mystery is important for catholics?
The paschal mystery is important for catholics as Jesus save us from sin through salvation and gives us redemption through justification. Redemption is the belief that we are saved from sin and earn eternal life in heaven.
Furthermore the paschal mystery is important to catholics because it heals our broken relationship with God. Jesus was the perfect sacrifice ( taking out sins onto the cross ) showing us how Christ triumphs death.
Explain two catholic teachings about the trinity- refer to a source of wisdom and authority
One catholics teaching about the trinity is the belief that he trinity is one God in three persons. This is shown in the ccc where it says “ the trinity is one God in three persons”. These persons are the father above us, the son beside us and the Holy Spirit within us.
Another teaching about the trinity is that each person of the trinity has a role to play. Jesus us the incarnation and teaches us about God, The father loves us endlessly and created the world and the Holy Spirit guides us with grace and is omnipresent.
Explain two developments of the doctrine of the trinity that happened in the early church
One development was the formulation of the creed. At the council of Constantinople and Nicea, the bishops came together and made a statement of Christian beliefs about the trinity. For example the unity of God.
Another development of the doctrine was the discussion of who Jesus was. They decide that Jesus was consubstantial with the father - homoousious. They also decided that Arianism was heretical.
Explain two reasons why catholics should look after the environment - refer to a source of wisdom and authority.
Firstly, one reason that catholics should look after the environment is because we are given stewardship. This means we are responsible for caring for the the earth in order to provide for futures generations.
Secondly, another reason why catholics should care for the environment is because as Catholics we are given dominion. In Genesis it says we are given “dominion over the fish of the sea”. This means we have been given authority over the earth and shouldn’t exploit resources but rather share them amongst wealth’s.
