reaction to a toxin in the surface of Staphylococcus

A

A
Hypotension
Renal dysfunction: Elevated BUN and Cr
Liver dysfunction
CNS involvement: Delirum

How do you treat SSSS and TSS?
A
Supportive care and antistaphylococcal medications

What antibiotics are commonly used in SSSS and TSS?
A
Oxacillin or Nafcillin: most effective
Cefazolin

How do antibiotics work in SSSS and TSS?
A
They kill the Staphylococcus producing the toxin but they do not reverse the disease
