6
Q

what is convection

A

heat transfer in fluids. when heated fluid is less dense and rises and colder fluid sinks

Q

radiation

A

all objects give out and take in thermal radiation, which is also called infrared radiation. the hotter an object is, the more infrared radiation emits.

infrared radiation is a type of electromagnet radiation that involves waves. doesn’t need a medium and no particles are needed.

if two objects are the same material and have the same volume, the flat thin one will radiate the most heat energy faster than a fat object. that is why there are radiators in a domestic household.

Q

Infrared radiation.

A

travels by EM waves and can therefore travel in a vacuums as they do not require particles.
