Q

What is an anticodon?

A

An anticodon is just a codon (set of three nucleotides, e.g. AUG) which codes for a specific amino acid and binds through complementary base pairing to the appropriate codon on the mRNA strand

An example would be how the tRNA molecule with an anticodon of UAC binds to the codon AUG. This codes for the amino acid methionine

Q

What is a ribosome?

A

A ribosome is an intercellular structure made of RNA and proteins and is used as the site (location) for protein synthesis in translation

It also helps to bind mRNA and tRNA together, bit of a matchmaker
