Be able to explain WHAT each of these each structures actually is and WHAT some of the central components are. - PROCESS
it is a style of writing that explains how something works or occurs, as well as how to do something. process presents events in chronological order like narration. providing clear and logical transition between steps is important. when writing a process essay, it is important to explain reasons for the steps, warning, defining terms and explaining any variations in steps. intro for going over the process and thesis, body paragraphs for explaining steps, the complexity of the process determines the number of steps, conclusions for summarize stage. process instruction/ explanation/ analysis. command style, imperative mood, start with verbs.

it analyzes WHY something happens, is happening and predicts what probably will happen. there are different types of causes such as main and contributory causes, and immediate closely related to the timing of the cause, and remote causes (less obvious cause). main cause might not be the most obvious one. an effect of something can be cause of another event. clear transition and understanding different types of causes help quality of the essay. it is also important to not leave out any important link in it’s proper order or else it ruins the logic of the causal chain. how is cause and effect related to the effect? important to have actual evidence.

1 subject 1 verb = 1 independent clause.
