There are many television stations in España, and some of them are specific to the autonomous community where they air. How many autonomous communites does Spain have
España has 17 autonomous communities and 2 autonomous cities, some of which speak a language other than Spanish.
Several of the autonomous regions have protected languages, what does that mean
Several of the autonomous regions have protected languages, which means there are legal structures in place to make sure these culturally important languages are preserved, promoted, and never forgotten. The Asturian language is protected in Asturias, Catálan is protected in Cataluña, and Gallego is protected in Galicia, for example. The Constitution of España recognizes these communities’ autonomy.
In España, there are two types of television stations:
national stations and regional stations. The national stations are broadcast throughout España. Most autonomous communities in España have their own public networks.
These television stations are geared toward each autonomous community, and as a result, they preserve the language, heritage, and folklore of each community.
In España, there are about a dozen public and commercial television channels. La 1 and La 2 are both public channels. La 1
. La 1 is the main channel of Radio Televisión España (RTVE). It was the first television station in España. Its programming features the news, documentaries, sports, and general programming.
La 2
La 2 is the second channel of RTVE. La 2 features documentaries, American TV shows, and entertainment programs.
Many of the autonomous regions have their own channels.
For example, in Barcelona, there are channels only in Catalán. In the Basque country, there are channels just in Basque. In these regions, there are also channels in Spanish, but it is nice that they offer both! This is similar to regions of Los Estados Unidos that have channels in other languages.
