Flashcards in Upland Case Study - Dartmoor Deck (10):
what type of rock has Dartmoor got?
what type of igneous rock does Dartmoor have?
what are the rocks like above the tees exe line?
Mainly older, harder and more resistant. Igneous and metamorphic rocks create the upland landscape, these rocks were created when the UK had tectonic activity.
how has the geology influenced the landscape?
Igneous rock has shaped the landscape. Batholiths also shape the landscape. They are formed when molten lava rises up and as it cools it within the Earth's crust turns to granite. Over time the less resistant rock gets worn down exposing the granite batholith.
