9

scapular winging

indicates weakness of the serrates anterior muscle

10

drop arm test

if tears in the rotator cuff, the arm drops and the pt. is not able to lower the arm slowly

11

yergason test

determine stability of the long head of the biceps tendon

12

apprehension test

test for shoulder disloction

13

tinel sign

finger in olecranon fossa, ulnar tingling, pain

14

finkelstein test

cast a fishing rod, thumb under first finger, pain indicates: stenosing tenosynovitis

15

phalen test

dorsal surface of hands together in downward position: elicit pain of carpal tunnel

16

Reflexes to test of the upper extremities

Biceps: C5
Brachioradialis: C6

17

dupuytren contracture

contracture of the pinky due to palmar firomatosis

18

swan-neck deformity

hyperextension of the PIP joint

19

boutonniere deformity

injury to the tendon that straighten the (PIP) middle finger joint. Can't fully straighten fingers

20

mallet finger

injury to extensor tendon which straightens fingers, usually affecting distal phalange

21

ganglion cyst

fluid filled lump that arrises out of a joint,
most common lump or mass in the hand

22

heberden nodes

hard swelling that develop in DIP, sign of osteoarthritis
