Flashcards in Verification Test Deck (31):
1

What is data

Data is a term meaning all measurements or observations to describe something

2

What are the two types of data

Quantitative ative and Qualitative data

3

What is Quantitative data

It’s measurements that are written as numbers with units attached

4

What is qualitative data

It’s is data that can only be described in words

5

What is primary data

Primary data is that you or your team finds out by running your own experiments

6

What is secondary data

Secondary data is data which is the work of others people

7

What are mistakes

Are things that can be avoided if we take more care

8

How can mistakes occur

When u spill a material, read the method incorrectly, use the wrong equipment,

9

What are errors

Are not mistakes, they are small and unavoidable changes that occur naturally in measurements.

10

How do errors occur

They will happen no matter how careful you are

11

Typesof errors

Parallax error, reading errors, instrument errors and human reflex, zero errors

12

Parallax error

Your eye can’t be over the measurement you have to be directly parallel tot he measure the to read correctly

13

Reading error

U might have to estimate a measurement if it has no exact markings

14

Instrument errors

Maybe a piece of equipment is faulty and won’t give the right reading

15

Human reflex

Stopwatch is more accurate than use so no one will have the same reading and may differ in people

16

Zero error

When the instrument doesn’t start on zero so everything will be a little bit out

17

How to improve primary data

Repeat measurements,

18

How can u improve secondary data

Checking how old it’s it
Where did it come from
What is the URL
Compare to other data u have found

19

Practical report features

Heading
Purpose
Hypothesis
Material

Results

21

Heading

List name and date of the investigation and your partners

22

Purpose

You describe briefly what you were trying to do

23

Hypothesis

An educated guess about what might happen in the investigation and what Igor be found out, give some scientific knowledge why you think that

24

Materials

Everything you will use in the investigation

25

Procedure

Description of everything you did in the investigation

26

Results

List and measure meant of the investigation, all in a graph

27

Types of graphs

Pie, bar, line

28

What are variables

Factors that might have some influence on an experiment

29

Independent variable

The one thing in the experiment you are going to change

30

Dependent variable

What you are trying to test and about to measure is known as the dependent variable

31

Controlled variables

The other variables need to be changed to make the experiment a fair test
