Continuous lines drawn on a map to show equal elevation

A dot Position Indicator with the elevation printed along side it.
What are form lines?
Dashed lines that indicate approximate elevation where an accurate survey of terrain has not been cancelled out.
How can contour lines be enhanced?
With tinting
What are hachures?
Short lines that radiate away from high ground
What is hill shading?
The simulation of a low sun angle casting shadows over high ground.
Where is hill shading most effective?
Most effective on relatively flat terrain (Moorland/Dunes)
