Vessels by Landmark Flashcards
begin at the aortic valve and end at the diaphragm:
Ascending Aorta/ Aortic Arch/ Decending Aorta/ Thoracic Aorta
begins at the aortic arch and ends at the bifurcation of the right common carotid and right subclavian arteries
Innominate artery
begins at the aortic arch and ends at the carotid bifurcation
left common carotid artery
begins at the innominate bifurcation and ends at the carotid bifurcation
right common carotid
begins at the carotid bifurcation and ends at the circle of willis
internal carotid artery
begins at the thoracic outlet and ends at the insertion of the tres major muscle of the upper arm
axillary artery
begins at the innominate bifurcation and ends at the thoracic outlet passing over the first rib
right subclavian artery
begins at the insertion of the trees major muscle and ends at the bifurcation into the radial and ulnar arteries
brachial artery
begins at the proximal abdominal aorta and ends quickly at the bifurcation into the hepatic and the splenic arteries
celiac trunk (or celiac axis)
begins at the abdominal aorta just distal to the celiac trunk and branches to perfuse the small intestine
superior mesenteric artery
begins at the abdominal aorta, usually posterolaterally and ends at the kidney
left renal artery
begins at the abdominal aorta just distal to the superior mesenteric artery, usually arising anterolaterally, and ends at the kidney
right renal artery
begins at the aortic bifurcation and ends at the bifurcation into the internal and external iliac arteries
common iliac artery
begins at the common iliac bifurcation and ends at the inguinal ligament
external iliac artery
begins at the inguinal ligament and ends at the bifurcation into the superficial and deep femoral arteries at about the level of the saphenofemoral junction
common femoral artery
