What is the normal temperature for a healthy adult?
37 degrees celcius
What happens if the body is cold?
Shivering causes vasoconstriction to reduce heat loss
What happens if the body is hot?
Sweating causes vasodilation to increase heat loss
What are some factors effecting body temperature?
- Circadian rhythm
What are the four types of heat loss?
When body temperature is above normal
A low grade temp is up to 38
A high grade temp is over 38
Hyperxia is 41
What are the four common types of fever?
Describe an Intermittent Fever
going up and down, alternating between normal and a fever
Describe a Remitten Fever
a very high temperature, fluctuating but never coming down

Not fluctuating more than a degree in 24 hours

How many heartbeats per minute

Define a radial pulse
Felt on the wrist under the thumb - using two fingers

Located away from the heart
Define an apical pulse
Located at the apex of the heart

What is tachycardia?
