What are transverse waves?
Oscillations perpendicular (right angle) to direction of energy transfer

Oscillations are parallel to energy transfer direction

What is rarefraction?
Region in longitudinal wave where particles are further apart
How to remember that longitudinal are parallel?
The bottom line of L shows that they are going parallel in a straight line
What do waves transfer?
Energy and info without transferring matter
Define amplitude?
Maximum displacement of a point on a wave from it’s undisturbed position
Define wavelength?
Distance from a point on one wave to the same point on the next wave
What is frequency?
Number of waves passing a point each second
Define period in terms of waves?
Time taken for a wave to pass a fixed point 👉 👈
What is wave speed/velocity?
Speed at which energy is transferred through a medium
