Q

what does the vertical profile allow?

A

enables the pilot to see vertical extension of clouds, examine angle of a cells leading edge, check cloud tops and clearly distinguish between ground and weather returns

16
Q

what will selecting RDR OFF do?

A

prevents the radar from transmitting and antenna scanning

17
Q

what is WX mode?

A

normal weather detection mode

18
Q

what is WXA mode?

A

enables the radar target alert feature in a range from 5nm to 170nm which advises the pilot of a potentially hazardous target directly in front of the aircraft outside the selected range

19
Q

when WXA is selected what will target alert monitor?

A

monitors 50nm beyond selected range and 10 degrees either side of the aircraft heading

20
Q

what signals us to a WXA target alert?

A

2 red arcs separated by a black arc

21
Q

what does GND MAP allow?

A

allows the pilot to use the WX radar as a ground radar

22
Q

what does antenna stabilisation compensate for?

A

30 degrees in pitch and roll to direct the antenna to the horizon

23
Q

what will we get If stabilisation limits are exceeded by aircraft manoeuvres?

24
Q

what will STAB OFF do?

A

disconnects information to the AHRS and the radar antenna is according to actual pitch and roll attitude

25
what does TRACK CTL allow?
allows the pilot to change the horizontal WX detection line 50 degrees left and right of the aircrafts track
26
is the gain changeable in WX mode?
no, only in GND mode
27
how is WX radar indication best displayed?
on MFD 2 when pushing the PUSH SEL button on the MODE/TILT knob and selecting WX
28
how do we set the WX radar up for operation ASAP after takeoff?
1. 360 MAP on MFD2 2. TEST with 40NM 3. WX 4. range and tilt as required on MFDCP 5. check WX-ON GND on MFD
29
what should we do if the WX RDR fails during operation in bad weather?
continue flight based on last received information and change flight path to avoid penetration of bad weather
