Primary - 1st hand
Secondary - collected by others or for other purposes.
Tertiary - summaries or collections of data.

Level / format / granularity / transactional / analytical / timely / consistent / unique / current

  • Information level - individual, departmental, organisational.
  • Format - form it is presented in eg, docs, presentations, reports.
  • Granularity - level of detail eg fine = detailed, course = summary.
  • Transactional info – all info in a business process or unit supporting daily operational tasks.
  • Analytical info – all organisational info supporting managerial tasks used in decision making.
  • Timely info – timeframe as it relates to the nature of the business decision.
  • Accuracy
  • Consistency – how a summary reflects the nature of the individual records.
  • Uniequeness – are the fields represented once?
  • Current info
  • Completeness
