Why did Germany want to defeat France at the start of WWI?
the Germans saw it as an aggressive act of war directed against itself and Austria-Hungary

because of his perceived threat to Serbian independence

Why did Australia (as a country) choose to participate in WWI?
After German troops entered Belgium on 4 August, the United Kingdom declared war on Germany. Australia, a dominion of the British Empire, willingly joined the war to aid the mother country
What are some reasons why Australians chose to enlist in WWI?
needed regular pay.
sought combat or adventure.
wanted to escape from normal life.
wanted to do their duty for the British Empire.
