This deck of flashcards is meant to help you study for the weekly vocabulary quizzes in this course--while you DON'T need to memorize the definitions word-for-word, ideally you should get a good idea of both WHAT a concept is, HOW you are seeing it in the various texts we are engaging with in this course, and--most importantly--WHY it's important in the larger context. In the humanities, a "text" is any language-based/cultural object that can be engaged via critical analysis-- "text" therefore includes written works like novels, short stories, poems, plays, and articles, and ALSO music, film, and even visual art. Ideally, as you study this deck, you should also keep in mind the texts we have engaged with in this course, and try to think of salient examples of WHERE and HOW these concepts are coming up in that context
