Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
A
an inherited disorder of collagen.
collagen-most important structural protein in the body.
This disorder results in abnormally stretchy, thin skin that is prone to bruises. Wounds take longer to heal and leave paper-thin scars. The joints are loose and prone to recurrent dislocation.
Individuals may bleed from gums and the digestive tract. This disorder is most commonly inherited un an autosomal dominant pattern.
There is no known specific treatment.
