Q

Airstart Procedures

A

*1. Emergency oxygen green ring(s) - Pull

*2. Throttle - Off

Simultaneously perform steps 3 and 4

*3. GTS start button - PRESS AND HOLD

Warning: Switch instr scan to standby instr

Caution: GTS start not reliable above 15k’ MSL

*4. Throttle - IDLE

If unsuccesful (no relight within 30 seconds after moving throttle to idle or EGT exceeds limits)

*5. Throttle - OFF (allow 30 seconds to drain if practical)

If windmill airstart envelop (below 25k MSL, Min 13% N2 RPM, recommended minimum 250 KIAS)

*6. GTS start button - PRESS AND HOLD/ Throttle-IDLE

If within assisted airstart envelope (below 25,000’ MSL, minimum 13% N2 RPM, recommended minimum 250 KIAS)

  1. GTS start button - PRESS

When RPM drops below 20% N2 and GTS advisory light illuminates:

  1. ENGINE switch - START
  2. Throttle - IDLE
  3. Reattempt Airstart procedure.

If engine will not start and MFCDs needed:

  1. GEN switch - RESET
  2. DISPLAY POWER switch - ORIDE

If succesful:

  1. Execute Succesful Airstart procedure

Q

Compressor Stall or EGT/RPM Warning Light

A

*1. Throttle - IDLE

*2. EGT/RPM - Check

If EGT is greater than 450*C for more than 6 seconds at IDLE

*3. Execute Engine Failure Procedure

If EGT responds normally

*4. Throttle - Slowly advance to minimum for safe flight

  1. Land as soon as possible

Will Illuminate if:

  • N1 > 112.4+-1% RPM
  • EGT > 650+-8*C

*2. Initiate controlled descent to below 18k’ MSL

*3. Air Flow knob - Off (Below 18k’ MSL if possible

If unable to clear smoke or unable to see:

*4. Airspeed - Reduce (As practical)

*5. Warn other cockpit occupant/secure loose items

Q

Rapid Decompression

A

*1. Mask - On/Tight

*2. Initiate controlled descent to lowest safe altitude below 18,000’ MSL

If rapid decomplression results in cabin altitude above 18,000’

*3. Emergency oxygen green rings - Pull

*4. OBOGS FLOW selectors - OFF

  1. Remain on emergency oxygen until depleted and then resume OBOGS operation until engine shutdown

In all cases:

  1. Land as soon as practicable

If adverse physiological symptoms occur:

  1. Consider a short-field arrestment and coordination medical assistance

Q

Low/No Mask Flow (Flight)

A
  1. Throttle - Increase N2 rpm above 75% (80% above FL300)

If low/no mask flow continues 10 seconds after increasing N2 rpm:

>Cabin alt >10k’

Q

Adverse Physiological Symptoms

A
  1. Initiate controlled descent to below 10,000’ Cabin altitude (approx 15,000’ MSL
  2. Control rate and depth of breathing (approx one breath every 5 seconds)

When cabin alt <10k’

  1. Mask - OFF (affected cockpit)
  2. OBOGS FLOW selector - OFF (affected cockpit)
  3. Continue controlling rate and depth of breathing with mask off
17
Q

Total Electrical Failure

A
  1. Emergency oxygen green rings - PULL
18
Q

Uncommanded Roll/Yaw

A
  1. FLAPS/SLATS lever - Return to previous setting
19
Q

Departure/Spin Procedure

A
  1. Controls - Neutralize/Forcibly center rudder pedals
  2. Speed braks - Retract
  3. Throttle - IDLE
  4. Check altitude, AOA, airspeed, and turn needle

If spin confirmed:

Inverted (AOA pegged at 0)

  1. Rudder pedal - Full Opposite Turn Needle
  2. Lateral stick - Neutralize

Upright (AOA above 28 Units)

  1. Rudder pedal - Full opposite turn needle
  2. Lateral stick - Full with turn needle
  3. Longitudinal stick- NEUTRALIZE

If recovery indicated or airspeed increasing through 160 KIAS

  1. Lateral stick - NEUTRALIZE

When recovery indicated

  1. Rudder pedals - SMOOTHLY CENTER

If out of control passing through 10k feet AGL:

  1. EJECT

When to use Clear Engine Procedure/Abnormal Start/TP Fire on Shutdown

A
  • Engine fais to light off within 15 seconds from moving throttle to idle (wet start)
  • Engine fails to accelerate from 45 percent to idling conditions (hung start)
  • EGT is excessive (hot start)
  • Tail pipe fire is indicated
