Emergency Procedures Flashcards
Clear Engine Procedure/Abormal Start/TP Fire On Shutdown
*1. Throttle - OFF
*2. ENGINE switches - ON
*3. Fuel SHUTOFF handle - DOWN
*4. GTS - Start
*5. IGNITION switch - Isolate
When RPM below 20% and GTS advisory illuminates:
*6. ENGINE switch - START
If GTS is no longer required:
- ENGINE switch - OFF
Emergency Shutdown/Egress
- Throttle - OFF
- ENGINE switch - OFF
- FUEL SHUTOFF handle - PULL
- Ejection seats - SAFE
- BATT switches - OFF
- PARKING BRAKE handle - PULL
- Canopy - OPEN
Brake Failure - Ashore
*1. Go-Around
If flyaway airspeed not available, or during taxi:
*2. Throttle - IDLE
*3. Brakes - Release
4*. Anti-skid switch - OFF
*5. Attempt braking
If brakes still unavailable:
*6. Hook - DOWN (if required)
*7. Parking brake handle - PULL (if required)
- External lights - ON
- Transmit to GND/TOWER
- Throttle - OFF(prior to impact or departing paved surface)
If Airborne:
- ANTI-SKID switch - OFF
- Attempt a Short Field Arrestment
Brake Failure - Afloat
*1. Throttle - IDLE
*2. Parking brake handle - PULL
*3. Hook - DOWN
- Transmit
Loss of Directional Control
- Go-around
If flyaway airspeed not available:
- Abort
If blown tire suspected
- Brakes - RELEASE
- ANTI-SKID switch - OFF
- Brakes - APPLY
If NWS failure suspected:
- Paddle switch - PRESS
If airborne:
- Gear and flaps - DO NOT REPOSITION
Abort
- Thottle - IDLE
- Speed brakes - Extend
- Brakes - APPLY
- Hook - DOWN (IF REQUIRED)
- Release brakes prior to crossing the arresting gear
- Transmit intentions
Emergency Catapult Flyaway
*1. Throttle - MRT
*2. Maintain 24 units AOA
If engine failed, or unable to stop settle
*3. Eject
Blown Tire(s) at the carrier
- Gear and flaps - DO NOT REPOSITION
Engine Failure
If below 1500’ AGL and airspeed below 180 KIAS
- Eject
If above 1500’ AGL or Airspeed greater than 180 KIAS
- Execute Airstart
Airstart Procedures
*1. Emergency oxygen green ring(s) - Pull
*2. Throttle - Off
Simultaneously perform steps 3 and 4
*3. GTS start button - PRESS AND HOLD
Warning: Switch instr scan to standby instr
Caution: GTS start not reliable above 15k’ MSL
*4. Throttle - IDLE
If unsuccesful (no relight within 30 seconds after moving throttle to idle or EGT exceeds limits)
*5. Throttle - OFF (allow 30 seconds to drain if practical)
If windmill airstart envelop (below 25k MSL, Min 13% N2 RPM, recommended minimum 250 KIAS)
*6. GTS start button - PRESS AND HOLD/ Throttle-IDLE
If within assisted airstart envelope (below 25,000’ MSL, minimum 13% N2 RPM, recommended minimum 250 KIAS)
- GTS start button - PRESS
When RPM drops below 20% N2 and GTS advisory light illuminates:
- ENGINE switch - START
- Throttle - IDLE
- Reattempt Airstart procedure.
If engine will not start and MFCDs needed:
- GEN switch - RESET
- DISPLAY POWER switch - ORIDE
If succesful:
- Execute Succesful Airstart procedure
Compressor Stall or EGT/RPM Warning Light
*1. Throttle - IDLE
*2. EGT/RPM - Check
If EGT is greater than 450*C for more than 6 seconds at IDLE
*3. Execute Engine Failure Procedure
If EGT responds normally
*4. Throttle - Slowly advance to minimum for safe flight
- Land as soon as possible
Will Illuminate if:
- N1 > 112.4+-1% RPM
- EGT > 650+-8*C
Electrical Fire
*1. GEN switch - OFF
Smoke or Fumes in Cockpit
*1. Mask - ON/TIGHT
*2. Initiate controlled descent to below 18k’ MSL
*3. Air Flow knob - Off (Below 18k’ MSL if possible
If unable to clear smoke or unable to see:
*4. Airspeed - Reduce (As practical)
*5. Warn other cockpit occupant/secure loose items
*6. Seat - Lower
*7. MDC firing handle - Pull
- Land as soon as possible
Rapid Decompression
*1. Mask - On/Tight
*2. Initiate controlled descent to lowest safe altitude below 18,000’ MSL
If rapid decomplression results in cabin altitude above 18,000’
*3. Emergency oxygen green rings - Pull
*4. OBOGS FLOW selectors - OFF
- Remain on emergency oxygen until depleted and then resume OBOGS operation until engine shutdown
In all cases:
- Land as soon as practicable
If adverse physiological symptoms occur:
- Consider a short-field arrestment and coordination medical assistance
Low/No Mask Flow (Flight)
- Throttle - Increase N2 rpm above 75% (80% above FL300)
If low/no mask flow continues 10 seconds after increasing N2 rpm:
>Cabin alt >10k’
- Emergency oxygen green ring(s) - PULL
- OBOGS FLOW selector - OFF
