12/11 Flashcards
A system used for reinforcing target behaviors based on the principles of operant conditioning
Token Economy
Doesnt acknowladge the roll of our cognition (thinking), suggests we dont have free will
Criticisms of skinner
Wanted to demmonstrate that uniquley human behaviors were the product of conditioning B.F. skinner started pigeons & gave them food. 6 of 8 developed superstition
Superstition
Pavlov & Watson believed the laws of learning were similar for all animals
Biological predisposition
Garcia effect, showed that the duration between CS and the US may be long, yet result in conditioning.
John Garcia
We can learn the connection between a food and sickness with only one linking of the CS and UCS
Taste aversion
Marian breland Bailey believed biological contraints make vs drift towards our biologically predisposed instinctive behavior
Instinctive Drift
Later behaviorists suggested that animals learn the predictability of a stimulus (Robert rescorla, 1988). More predictable association = stranger conditioned response
Cognitive response
Experimented with mice to see if learning can occur without without reinfrocement. (it can) Rats developed cognitive map
Tolman & Honzik
A form of learning that is not immediately expressed in an overt response. It occurs without obvious reinforcement
Latent learning
Mental representation in the brain of a layout of a enviroment & its features
Cognitive map
Insight learning, the sudden realization of a problems solution
Wolfgang Kohler
