Spread through conquest when people were forced to convert, but it was similar to Judaism and Christianity

Disagreements between Sunni and Shia Muslims. Sunni Muslims wanted the people to pick who would succeed him, but Shia Muslims believed it should be a descendent from his family. Split still exists today

Caliph is a leader of a large Islamic state. A caliphate is a large territory controlled by Islam
How did Islam spread? What made it easier?
Through trade which was all across North and West Africa. It was easier if you practiced the faith and spoke Arabic

Mongols invited and Turkic tribes spread Islam through Turkey and India

Education, math, science, architecture. This was Islam’s Golden age
