12 Lead ECG - placement

Question 1

V1 -Fourth intercostal space at the right border of the sternum.
V2 - Fourth intercostal space at the left of the sternum.
V3- Midway between V2 AND V3
V4 - Fifth intercostal space at the midclavicular line.
v5- Anterior axillary line on the same horizontal level as V4.
V6 - Mid-Axillary line on the same level as V4 AND V5.

NOTE - DO NOT USE NIPPLES AS A REFERENCE.

CONTINUING ECG TIPS
- Ensure electronic devices (smartphones) are removed from the patient. These devices can produce artifacts (interference) and cause problems with the readings.

• Place pt into a semi0recumben position
• Ask the patient to put their arms bu there sides and relax their shoulders nad uncross their legs.
• reduce artifacts by checking and removing loops in the ECG cables.
• Akin should be dry and hairless.
