Working memory
A
Similar to computer RAM. The more RAM the greater the capacity. WM is extremely limited (4 items). Information that is no longer in the senses

Baddeley model
A
Central executive with buffers for different types of information. Has to be repeated in these stores to keep in working or store in long term. This model includes LTM. Working memory should rely on brain areas that are distinct from brain areas that support LTM.

Nelson Cowan’s model
A
Also uses central executive, but only one system. (LTM). Attention uses subset of longterm memory that is available in working. Not anatomically distinct in his opinion (opposite to Baddeley)

Delay period activity
A
Moving eyes to previously cued. Cells fire continuously during the delay period.
