crime produces a reaction from society which reinforces commitment to the shared norms and values. Reinforces social solidarity. This may be done in rituals of the courtroom as they publically shame the offender. This reaffirms the values of law abiding and discourages others from rule breaking

A

all change starts with an act of deviance. There should be scope for individuals with new ideas to challenge existing norms and values to bring about change. Society needs to adapt with new ideas and change rather than stagnate. e.g natashas law - allergies
