Diagnostic Pattern
Hot dysenteric disorder due to heat toxin searing the Stomach and Intestines.
Herbs
bái tóu wēng
huáng lián
huáng băi
qín pí
bái tóu wēng
treat dysenteric disorders
clear damp-heat and resolve fire toxicity from Large Intestine, especially in blood level
huáng lián
bitter, cold
clears damp-heat, especially from Stomach and Intestines
huáng băi
clears damp-heat from the lower burner
qín pí
cold, bitter, astringent
restraining diarrhea, enhancing actions of other herbs
Cautions and Contraindications
Herbs that are bitter and cold can readily injure Spleen yang. Should not be used long-term, contraindicated with Spleen yang deficiency.
