Lab 3 Cephalometric Lines and Planes Flashcards
Obtained by connecting 2 landmarks.
Lines
It is the cranial line between the center of the sella turcica and the anterior point of the fronto-nasal suture.
S.N. Plane
It represents the anterior cranial base.
S.N. Plane
This plane connects the lowest point of the orbit and the superior point of the external auditory meatus.
Frankfort horizontal plane
It is a denture plane bisecting the posterior occlusion of the permanent molars and premolars and extends anteriorly
Occlusal plane
It is a line linking the anterior nasal spine of the maxilla and the posterior nasal spine of the palatine bone.
Palatal plane
The mandibular plane in Tweed’s analysis?
Tangent to the lower border of the mandible
What are the 2 landmarks used in drawing the mandibular plane in Steiner’s analysis?
Gonion - Gnathion
What are the 2 landmarks used in drawing the mandibular plane in Down’s analysis?
Gonion - Menton
It is a line connecting the basion and nasion, representing the cranial base.
Basion-nasal line
This is a plane that connects the Bolton’s point posterior to the occipital condyles.
Bolton’s Plane
What are the 7 horizontal plane?
- SN Plane
- Frankfort horizontal plane
- Occlusal plane
- Palatal plane
- Mandibular plane
- Basion-Nasal plane
- Bolton’s plane
It is a line connecting from Point A of the maxilla to the pogonion on the mandible.
A-Pog line
It is a line from the anterior point of the fronto-nasal suture to the most anterior point of the mandible.
Facial plane
A line from Ptm point to cephalometric Gnathion.
