Adenosine triphosphate is a nucleotide derivative and is made of ribose, adenine and 3 phosphate groups

Energy is released when ATP is hydrolysed to form ADP and a phosphate molecule
The process is catalysed by ATP hydrolase

What are the features of the inorganic phosphate?
A
Can be used to phosphorylate other compounds, as a result making them more reactive

How is energy taken into ADP?
A
Condensation of ADP and inorganic phosphate catalysed by ATP synthase produces ATP during photosynthesis and respiration.
