How are “contradictions” in the Bible explained?
A
Historical context is important. Ex: In Luke 22, Jesus tells them to not take “…extra sandles.”
Matthew 10:10, Jesus tells the disciples to take “…no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff.”
Readers know that the normal “footwear” for this time period was sandles. They’d always have them on. Christ is saying not to bring extra things.
