Fair Housing Act was created in 1968 to prevent discrimination of sale , purchase, financing or renting of property based on skin color, race, nationality, sex. religion. Title VIII of the Civil rights Act of 1968.
FHA is legally enforced at the federal level by the dept of HUD.

Understanding FHA
A
If discrimination is suspected, the Dept of Justice may file law suit against the landlord or owner. DOJ will institute criminal charges if the a threat of force is used to discriminate.
The victims can file complaints with CFPB or HUD or file a lawsuit in federal court.

Proving discrimination in housing can be difficult, according to civil rights and housing attorneys.
