DSC Autoflight Flashcards

1
Q

What is the low energy alert ?

A

Computed by the FAC.
Generate an aural low energy “SPEED SPEED SPEED” alert that repeat every 5sec.
=> warn crew of the need to increase thrust to regain positive flight path angle through pitch control.

Q

Why can you have discrepancy between VAPP on the FMGC and the one displayed on PFD ?

A

It link to the way the GW is calculated.
The FAC will use FMS inserted gross weight initially but will computes its own based on aerodynamic data for the approach.

Q

Can you explain the function of GS mini ?

A

The system ensures that the ground speed that the aircraft touches down with is maintained
throughout the approach, despite varying wind conditions.
It ensure standard aerodynamic margin VS stall

Q

What are the protection associated with SRS ?

A
  • Flight path angle => Mini VS 120ft/min
  • Pitch angle protection => Reduce A/C nose up
  • Speed limiting => limiting target speed to V2+15kt

What is the max/min speed you can. set on the FCU ?

A

399-100/ Mach 0,10-0,99

17
Q

What is BUSS and why/when would you need it ?

A

Backup speed scale => alternative way of getting some speed info/ alt info
You would use it in case of unreliable Airspeed

18
Q

What data does the BUSS use ?

A

AoA and GPS for altitude

19
Q

What is the bird and where does it gets its data from ?

A

Show the track and flight path angle
Computed from IRS and static pressure

20
Q

What is Vref ?

A

reference speed for normal final approach
Vref = 1,23VS of config full

21
Q

What is Vapp ?

A

Vapp = VLS + Wind correction( min +5kt up to 15kt)

22
Q

What is Vls ?

A

lowest selectable speed, varies between 1,13VS during takeoff or 1,23VS to 1,28VS

23
Q

What is the minimum altitude at which the autopilot can be used at takeoff?

A

100ft AGL and 5s after lift off

24
Q

What is the minimum altitude at which the autopilot can be used in approach with FINAL APP, V/S or FPA mode ?

A

250ft AGL

25
Q

What is the minimum altitude at which the autopilot can be used in a circling approach ?

A

500ft AGL

26
Q

What is the minimum altitude at which the autopilot can be used in a ILS approach ?

A

If CAT 1 displayed 160ft AGL

if CAT 2 or 3 0ft AGL

27
Q

With one engine inoperative on a non precision approach with a 319 what are the limitation ?

A

it is not permitted to use the AP to perform NPA in FINAL APP, NAV V/S, NAV/FPA
Only use of FDs is permitted

28
Q

What is required to be engaged for CAT II, CAT III fail passive, CAT III fail operational ?

A

CAT II, CAT III Fail passive : at least one AP in APPR mode and ATHR on
CAT III fail operational : 2 AP on APPR mode and ATHR on CAT 3 dual displayed

29
Q

With one engine out what is the approved landing config for autoland (CATII, CAT III fail passive ?

A

A319, A320 NEO, A321 NEO = Flaps 3 or Flaps FULL

A320CEO = Only flaps FULL

30
Q

What is the max weight for an autoland ?

A

69T for A319
Max landing weight for A320 and A321.

If emergency situation autoland approved for A319 up to 69T
