mass: amount of matter contained within in
force: weight is the force acting upon it due to the acceleration of gravity
principle of transmissibility of forces

equilibrium
condition where all the forces are balanced
equilibriant
force that will balance out all other forces and place system in equilibrium
resultant
imaginary vector that could replace all the individual vectors acting yet having the same effect
concurrent, collinear, non-concurrent
concurrent: pass through same point
collinear: all on the same line
non-concurrent: may intersect at variable points or be parallel
