What do you do if your solider calls you late at night saying he’s been drinking and needs a ride home
Make sure that he is okay. Then see if he’s with anyone else and make sure their okay because they may need a ride home too. Make sure that he does not drive under no circumstance. I would then get his location and get him and anyone else that needs help home. The next day I would write up an event oriented counseling noting all the things he did wrong and how he needs to have a plan next time he plans to drink. I would also put in the counseling that he did do the right thing by calling for help.
A Soldier makes Suicidal
Threats. What are your actions?
I will make sure that’s the solider is okay and see if they want to talk about what’s going on and try to help in every way I can. Then I will notify the chain of command and let them know everything I know. I will help the solider get the help he’s comfortable with wether it be behavioral heath or the Chaplin. The soldier should also be counseled so it is on paper if this ever happens again.
