Q

Accents and stereotypes 4 points

A

1-the accent we have usually says something about who we are, where we are from and were we have been
2-we can adapt our accent, this can sometimes happen when we go for a job interview. Some people’s accent changes when they move away from home but some will revert to the accent of their childhood when they return on a visit.
3-We are aware, to some degree of consciousness, that our accents are implicated in the image we project to the world, or which the world projects on us. (think of the French cartoons and other stereotypes)
4-the stereotypes and images we project onto a particular accent will most likely vary depending where you are from (garlic, french, mediterranean)
