Involves external nasal branch of the nasociliary nerve (branch of the opthalmic division (V2) of the trigeminal nerve)

What are the indications for antiviral therapy post 72 hours?
- Cutaneous
- Motor
- Neurologic
- Ocular complications
- Advanced age
- Severe pain
- Immunocompromised
Antiviral increases recovery time and decreases post herpetic neuralgia
Everyone should be treated with acyclovir unless contraindicated.
Anyone under 50 that is not complicated: antiviral is not that important
