Chapter 8 Terms Flashcards
Primary factor that influences contrast in digital imaging
Look Up Table (LUT)
Determines the range of data in a histogram model that is to be displayed.
Value of Interest (VOI)
Graphical representation of a data set.
Histogram
Selections of a region of the digital image data set for statistical analysis.
Region of Interest (ROI)
A common computer language that allows other systems of PACS to communicate with each other (printers, workstations, etc.)
DICOM
Information system responsible for patient information coming from the imaging department
Rad information System (RIS)
Primary information system designed to manage healthcare data such as EMR’s, patient workflow and billing
Hospital information system (HIS)
A network used for transmission and exchange of patient images, data, storage, viewing and workstations.
Picture archiving and communication system (PACS)
A process where the computer analyzes the histogram and compares it to a preestablished histogram.
Histogram Analysis
A health record that covers the full range of a patients health history and can be communicated through different networks
Electronic Health Record
A health record that is a digitization of a patients medical record thats used for diagnoses and treatment
Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
Software function that enhances sharp edges
Edge Enhancment
Software function that combines multiple images into a single image
Stitching
A noise reduction filter that can change image appearance by smoothing out the image noise to make is less visible
Smoothing
A digital process that adjusts the original histogram of an image to match the expected histogram
Rescaling
