-The PA should provide information that is understandable to competent patients or patient surrogates including:

-Information in the patient’s medical record = Private Health Information (PHI)
-should be kept confidential.
-only released with written permission of the
patient or patient’s legally authorized representative.
-Patients have the right to know information contained in their medical record.
-Laws provide patients access to their records.

-physician and PA should disclose error to pt if it is significant to pts well being
care of family members, friends, and co-workers
-Treating oneself, co-workers, friends, family members or your students may be unethical or create conflict of interest.
