Abduction

Plantar flexion of the ankle (pointing the toes downwards)

What does the tibialis anterior do?
Dorsiflexion of the ankle (bringing the toes up towards the shin)

What is an isotonic contraction?
When a muscle contracts and changes length
What is an isotonic concentric contraction?
Involves the muscle shortening
What is an isotonic eccentric contraction?
Involves the muscle lengthening whilst it is under tension.
What is an isometric contraction?
This involves a muscle producing tension but staying the same length.
What’s an agonist muscle?
The muscle that is contracting
