A

An illegitimate child born of a Filipino mother and Chinese father in 1942 did not need to elect Philippine citizenship in order to be considered a natural born Filipino citizen. The requirements of electing PH citizenship only applies to legitimate children.

In other words, petitioenr is a Filipino since birth without having to elect PH citizenship when she reached the age of majority.Her petition for correction of entry in birth certificate to reflect her mother’s citizenship should be granted.
