Triple Entente/Great Powers - France, Britain/UK, Russia
Triple Alliance/Allies - Germany, Austria, Italy (later changes sides, and Ottoman Empire/Turkey joined later)

The belief in having a strong military, and the aggressive build up of armed forces

A nation dominating or controlling another country or region
Definition of Nationalism
The support and devotion to ones culture and nation, sometimes resulting in the promotion of independence

Black Hand - supported by Serbia - assassinated Prince of A.H. (Franz Ferdinand). Assassin: Giourilla Princip. A.H. find evidence Serbia was involved afterwards, A.H. declares war on Serbia a month later, followed by Germany, and alliances are activated, Germany declares was on France/UK
What did Serbia want in WW1?
to create a “Greater Serbia” with Bosnia and other slavic countries
What did Russia want in WW1?
to protect Serbia and show that they are a strong empire
What did UK want in WW1?
didn’t want to enter the war, but wanted to protect its colonies/empire
