Q

What is partial reflection

A
  • When an ultrasoundw wave reaches a boundary between two mediums, some waves are reflected straight back while some are transmitted and refracted

Q

How do ultrasound machines work?

A
  • Use an ultrasound device to transmit and receive ultrasound waves
  • When the wave reaches a boundary (e.g: between tissue and the foetus), the wave is partially reflected and received by the ultrasound receiver
  • These echoes and distributions are processed to provide a live image

Q

How is ultrasound used in industry?

A
  • Ultrasound is used in industry to check the quality of products
  • If ultrasound waves are transmitted through a solid object and reflected back before the boundary then we know that there is a crack in the product
