Integrating Network Devices Chapter 17 Flashcards
Define Real-Time Transfer Protocol (RTP)
Protocol that defines the type of packets used on an internet to move voice or data from server to clients. Vast majority of VOIP use RTP
What Ports does Real-Time Transfer Protocol (RTP) use?
Undefined ports but companies use ports recommended by IETF 6970 - 6999
Define Unified Communication Gateway (UCG)
One of 3 components of a Unified Communication Network, edge device used to add extra services to an edge router.
Define ZigBee Wave
Wireless home automation standard low, can handle over 64,000 devices. 2.4 GHz or 914 MHz
Define Zwave
Wireless home automation standard, can handle up to 232 devices 908 and 916 MHz
Define Unified Communication as a Service (UCaaS)
System that rolls many network services into one, instant messaging, telephone service, video conferencing a re a few examples. Zoom, Cisco webex, Microsoft teams
Define Industrial Control Systems (ICS)
system that monitors and controls machines such as those in a factory or chemical plant, or even a large hvac system in an office building.
Define Distributed Control System (DCS)
A small controller added directly to a machine used to disturbed the computing load. Adding complexity but allows direct control at the device instead of only from one computer
Define an ICS Server
Unit in a DCS that can be used to manage global changes to the controllers.
Define Human-Machine Interface (HMI)
In a DCS a computer or set of controls that exists between a controller and a human operator. Human operates the HMI which interacts with the controller. Example an App that controls HVAC systems.
Define Programable Logic Controller (PLC)
A computer that controls a machine according to a set of ordered steps. For example, a machine that produces cakes, each step has to go in a specific order.
Define Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCATA)
A system that has the basic components of a DCS, yet is designed for large scale distributed processes and functions with the idea that remote devices may or may not have ongoing communication with the central control. Subset of an ICS
Examples: Power grids, Pipelines, Railroads
Define Remote Terminal Unit (RTU)
In a SCATA environment, has the same functions as a controller plus additional autonomy to deal with connection loss. Also designed to take advantage of some sort of long distance communication.
Example Telephone, Fiber. Cellular Wans
