What is a stakeholder?
A stakeholder is someone who has an interest in a business. This is not about ownership, it is about being interested in how the business is run
Why is an Owner interested in a business?
The owners are the people who started the business with their own money, Owners are interested in -if the business will make a profit
Why are employees interested in a business?
Employees work inside the business, they are interested in job promotion prospects and they are interested to know if they have obtained security so they can pay their own bills
Why are suppliers interested in a business?
They are interested in a business because they want to know if they will get paid for the goods and services they have provided, they are also interested in knowing if they will get more business from the company
Why is the local community interested in a business?
The local community are interested in the business because it may pollute the environment/ it may cause noise with lorries loading
The community may not want the business to open as it may harm local business trade
Why is the government interested in a business?
They are interested in if the business provides jobs and they are interested if the business will pay their taxes, they are interested in whether the business is obeying the law
Why are shareholders interested in a business?
Shareholders are interested in whether a profit will be made and whether they will be paid a dividend
Why are customers interested in a business?
Customers are interested in whether they can get quality products and services at low price
Customers are interested in whether the products and services of a business satisfy their needs
Customers are interested in whether their favourite product will continue to be sold
Why are pressure groups interested in a business?
A pressure group is interested in a business because they want to know if they have acted ethically
