2.1 Levels of organisms Flashcards
What are unicellular organisms
Unicellular organisms are made from one cell
What are multicellular organisms
multicellular are made up of a collection of cells
What happenes in complex multicellular organisms
-Cells are specialised to carry out particular functions
-These specialised cells form tissues
-These tissues form organs
-These organs form organ system
What is an example of an organ system
-In the Humans the digestive system(provides the body with neutrients) and the respiratory system(provides the body with oxygen and remove carbon dioxide are examples of organ systems that provide dissolved materials that need to be moved quickly around the body in the blood by the circulatory system
What are organelles
Organelles- A component within a cell that carries out a specific task
What are cells
Cells- Basic functional and structural in a living organisms
What are tissues
Tissues- A group of cells of similar structure working together to perform a particular function
What are organs
Organs- Made up from a group of different tissues working together to perform a particular function
What are organ systems
Organ systems- Made from a group of organs with related functions, working together to perform body functions within the organism
Give an example of an organ system in an plant and what it does
organ system- Root system
Organs- Root, tuber
tissues- xylem, phloem, ground tissue
Give an example of an organ system in an animal and what it does
organ system- circulatory system
organs- heart, veins, arteries
tissues- muscle, connective, nerve
