Relationship
A connections between two or more people or groups of people.
Types of relationships - family
Provide love, support, security, + care for members.

Offer support and are based on common interests, intensity varies.

Involves strong emotions + involves physical and/or emotional closeness.

Can be negative (cyberbullying) or positive (way to connect with people)/

Provide role models and can be influential for youth.

Workplace relationships allow increased productivity + enjoyment of the job.
Characteristics of healthy + respectful relationships
Respect, trust, honesty, loyalty, empathy, safety, equality.
Respect
Consideration of other people’s feelings, opinions, rights, + needs.
Trust
Feeling of having confidence in another person + feelings emotionally + physically safe around them.
Honesty
Quality of being honest (choosing not to lie, deceive, or cheat).
Loyalty
Quality of being faithful to others. Means that people stick by each other and provide support and consistency even through challenging times.
Empathy
The ability to understand + share the feelings of another person.
Safety
State of being free from danger, either physically or emotionally.
Equality
The state of being equal whereby all people involved in a relationship are valued and able to contribute to and take from the relationship.
